HOP GAR

Sihan David Lawrence introduces students to Hop Gar Kung Fu. Participants will find this a very effective, fun and easy to learn martial art program. Training takes places in a unique, laid back club atmosphere (no belts) focusing on both physical and mental rejuvenation. The simple and straight forward training method of Hop Gar improves cardiovascular fitness, balance, agility, confidence and peace of mind.

CHIN NA

Chin Na is the ancient method of using joint locks in response to punches, grabs, chokes, knife and even gun attacks. Chin Na can be effectively applied when submission is preferable to the destruction of an opponent. Learn to control your opponent with the same techniques used by the Hong Kong Police Department.

CHI KUNG

Chi Kung is the ancient art and science of developing, harnessing and applying the body’s natural life force, known as chi. As a Chi Kung disciple of Chi Kung master Sifu Ku, David Lawrence is well qualified in both Shaolin and Tibetan Chi Kung forms. Shaolin Chi Kung is immediately taught to all students as a way of maintaining proper energy balance and general good health.

IRON PALM

Iron Palm training develops and concentrates chi in the hands. The practitioner can apply the method in a defensive manner or for healing purposes.

WEAPONS

Sifu & his disciples have mastered several weapons including staff, sword and spear. Sifu Ku learned these forms directly from the masters that made those arts famous. Weapons are taught intermittently to advancing students. Though these ancient weapons might not seem practical in today’s world, learning these weapons helps develop a keen sense of balance, strength and coordination.

FITNESS TRAINING

Hop Gar training classes combines 1.5 hours of cardio, strength and core training with the added benefits of increased energy levels, stability and balance. This art is ideal for participants interested in a fun and unique workout while learning how to breathe, how to work with energy, how to improve health and longevity, and how to use an effective self-defense art.

 

Classes are conducted in a fun, informal, structured club type atmosphere. There is no testing or belts. We do not "teach" discipline. Students are taught to the level of their performance. Students are expected to attend sessions and practice regularly.
