Hop Gar Kung Fu is an effective self defense and health & fitness program for adults and young adults (ages 13 and older)

 

Sihan David Lawrence introduces students to Hop Gar Kung Fu. Participants will find this a very effective, fun and easy to learn martial art program. Training takes places in a unique, laid back club atmosphere (no belts) focusing on both physical and mental rejuvenation. The simple and straight forward training method of Hop Gar improves cardiovascular fitness, balance, agility, confidence and peace of mind.

 

ABOUT INSTRUCTOR DAVID LAWRENCE & SIFU KU

 

Sifu Ku Chi Wai is an undiluted product of the rare Hop Gar style. Sifu Ku’s first teacher was the undisputed Hop Gar Grandmaster Ng Yim Ming. Sifu Ku’s second mentor was the Shaloin Monk, Law Wei Jung. Sigung Law learned Kung Fu in the finest Shaolin tradition, but also was a direct student of Sing Lung who taught the highly secretive Tibetan Chi Kung forms. Sifu has over 70 years’ experience in martial arts and was the in-house martial arts instructor for the Hong Kong Police Department. In 1979 he moved from Hong Kong to Atlanta where he now instructs and practices Hop Gar and his traditional medicine techniques.

 

Instructor David Lawrence began his study of martial arts 30 years ago at the age of 18. He studied numerous styles including Karate, Aikido, Jujitsu & Wing Chun, before observing Sifu Ku at a seminar 20 years ago. David was intrigued at the ease and practicality of the Hop Gar style. From that point forward David put all his energy into becoming a proficient practitioner and teacher of Hop Gar under the tutelage of Sifu Ku. David Lawrence served three years in the Special Forces of the Israeli Defense Forces. Today, in addition to teaching Hop Gar, he is a business owner and teaches as a health & fitness trainer in Seattle.
